{a weekend up north}

did i mention we got a new camera?
a couple of months ago, i started thinking i'd like an upgrade from my
point and shoot camera.
but i knew i'd have to save up for several months to get a decent one.
or so i thought.

a few weeks ago, our friend ron, who is working toward his MFA in photography
at cranbrook, decided to do an upgrade himself.
he offered his former camera + lens at an unbelievable price that we couldn't pass up.

we got it just in time for our weekend up north with my family,
grandparents, aunt and my sister's new man.
and despite the unfavorable weather, we had a fantastic time.
we swam, boated, tubed, visited a winery, ate yummy food and gazed at the stars.
oh and on the especially windy day, we drank wine and watched trashy TV.

my grandma and i talked lots about food & cooking (she is an amazing cook),
and i found out that her mom, way back when, studied food at Cornell!
so cool to know that the love of cooking has been
passed down through generations!

i so wish that my grandparents and aunt lived nearby
(rather than the other side of the country)!!

Congrats on the camera. What a score! The pictures look great and I especially like the last one in the cabin. What a cool place. Reminds me of the vacation house from Dan in Real Life...

although i love my point and shoot for quick shots while i'm out and about, nothing can beat matt's digital slr - i LOVE it. (oh, and the tattoos are all recent - he got the landscape a couple of years ago, and the city scape on the bottom of his arm was almost completed right before we moved. i've been meaning to post about it for a while - because it's AWESOME!)

highlights: the dragonfly glasses on all three of you, and Cory's facial hair.
