a doggie birthday.

it's hard to believe this little guy turned 4 this past weekend (which means our 4-year anniversary is just around the corner -- even harder to believe). he brings us SO MUCH joy. he's got such a fun(ny), loving personality (although sometimes, i will admit, he drives us crazy with his constant barking and other misbehaving ways). but mostly we think he's perfect, even when he pees when he gets excited. i don't know what i'd do without him around every night while Joel is teaching/counseling/at class. he's my furry little companion.

in case you're curious, magglio (maggs for short -- he was named after a {now former} Detroit Tigers player) is a cockapoo - a cocker spaniel/poodle mix. he is frequently mistaken for a labradoodle because he is larger (about 35 pounds) and much cuter, of course, than the average cockapoo. i would highly recommend a cockapoo if you are considering a dog - they are very sweet-natured, love people and are great family dogs (or so i hear... only time will tell). and major bonus - they don't shed! of course, it really is best to rescue a dog in need of a loving home. i sometimes feel bad that we bought him instead of rescuing, but then again, i wouldn't trade him for the world.

Happy birthday to him! He's adorable! Dogs really are the best :)

35 lbs is big! My parents' cockapoo is small...but pretty chunky so he's probably 20 lbs haha.

Aww, look at your little mister! You have to celebrate the little moments, don't you? I just got a puppy, Leo, in October and I often look at him and remark to my husband that our life seems so much more fun and full! They are the best, aren't they?
