weekend in instagrams + contentment

don't these photos just scream summer? they make me happy. these are all related to my new favorite place, to which i am already looking forward to going back to this saturday -- Eastern Market in Detroit.

1 | beautiful flats being sold for dirt cheap 2 | a gorgeous bouquet my friend picked up. sadly, i had already ran out of cash at that point. maybe this weekend! 3 | a beautiful little succulent i picked up for only $1.25!! they had such a beautiful selection.. and a large pot of them for $7! i couldn't believe it, it was gorgeous. 4 | caprese salad i made upon my return with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil and a garlic & herb olive oil dressing, all from the market!!

i'm finding that my grocery list is dwindling thanks to this wonderful place. this weekend, i hope to pick up some fresh meat too. it feels so.good. to be supporting local farmers and businesses and getting the freshest produce possible (until my little garden starts growing edible things!). it aligns so perfectly with my new healthy ways, which i will be sharing more about soon.

hope you are all having a great start to the week! mine started off rough (as those who follow me on twitter may know), but thanks to your prayers, encouragement from my hubby and parents, and some time reflecting and talking to the One who gave me life, i am feeling 110% better. i am reminded that God is always in control (how do i so often forget his faithfulness) and that my contentment should never be controlled by my circumstances (i.e. finances in this case), but in my identity in Christ. can i get an amen?

beautiful summer time photos! that looks like a great way to spend a Saturday :)
So sorry you've had a rough week. Learning to be content is something I'm convinced I'll be re-learning my whole life. It's a real challenge for sure.

Sometimes I wish we could just grab a cup of coffee and chat! I am right there with you about feeling contentment whenever life throws a curve ball. I have been dealing with my own personal issue for the past month involving plans changing and having to trust God that he is in control of our finances.

Somehow, despite some frantic tweets on my part, I feel remarkably at peace. I will be praying for that same peace for you.

Have a great day!

Amen! :) Chris and I recently went through a really hard time circumstantially, and it was exactly what you mentioned that I had to be reminded of, and think on so often--my identity in Christ, and His faithfulness! Chris and I have been loving Sara Groves' song "He's Always Been Faithful" lately.

The market looks lovely.

I love that you have a vegetable garden! I would love to at some point. I am finding it difficult to find the time to just plant flowers in the yard. I do plan on making a trip to Lowes tomorrow to get a big pot for the porch and some dirt and some kind of flowers. Baby steps!
