a pink lake?

{via ginger leaf // original source (i think)}

yes, this is real and not photoshopped. a pink lake really exists and i am wishing it wasn't so far away. it's called Lake Retba (referrd to as Lac Rose by the French) & it's located north of the Cap Sert Peninsula in Senegal. apparently it gets its strawberry milkshake hue from Dunaliella salina, a type of halophile green micro-algae bacteria found in the water, which is used in cosmetics and dietary supplements. another interesting tidbit – it's got one and a half times the salt content of the Dead Sea (nearly 40%!) which makes floating effortless. sounds like a dream to me.

hope you all had a lovely weekend! mine was pretty wonderful, particularly because i got to meet my dear friend's baby girl, Kinsey Reese. babies are really such a miraculous gift. she is already loved by so many.
